Nollywood actor and comedian, Ime Bishop Umoh aka Okon has defended celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, after she faced a barrage of criticism on social media for eating dogs.

TheNiche had reported that animal rights activist and creator of My Dog & I TV,  Jackie Idimogu, recently slammed Hilda after a video where she admitted she eats dog meat surfaced online.

Reacting to the now-viral clip, the activist faulted her for engaging in such an archaic practice despite her current status, she also described her action as cruelty to animals.

Idimogu said: “Members of My Dog & I group wore their shirts to go and support Hilda, dogs were present at the cookathon to support Hilda. I know that there were about two or three dogs because when my group members went there they made sure to take pictures and videos with every dog there.

“Now, imagine my surprise this evening, scrolling through Instagram and then I see on a news blog that this same Hilda posted that she is eating a dog.”

Defending her, the thespian clarified that Akwa Ibom people don’t eat pet dogs as being insinuated, adding that they only eat wild dogs.

He warned Idimogu against inciting the west against Hilda who is yet to be crowned by the Guinness World Record (GWR) as the holder of the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

He wrote, “Who’s this one sef? OK madam Cl*tina, before you begin inciting western hoe on Hilda, you should first of all know that there is no proof that the meat on the table is dog meat.

“Secondly, even if it is dog meat, Akwa Ibomites and Cross Riverians eat dog meat and there is nothing wrong with it. They don’t eat pet dogs, but wild dogs.”
