The Obidient Movement operating under the Labour Party has once again showed its unique characteristic as a populist reformist political organisation through the reduction in the price of expression of interest and nomination form.

The LP had pegged the amount for the form ahead of the Imo State governorship election at N25 million.

But in a meeting the party leadership had with its elected National Assembly legislators in Abuja on Tuesday, it was agreed that they slash the amount further down to N15 million only.

National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, said the downward review is in response to the wishes of their members and to also show that LP is a listening party and obedient to the wishes of its members.

Presidential flag bearer and leader of the party, Peter Obi, is known for his brand of politics that plays down on the influence of money. Rather than wealth and fame, Obi stresses that competence, character, and capacity should be the driving force of Nigeria’s politics.

“If we want to take back our country we must not alienate critical segments like youths and women who are vulnerable when you put money up in the ceiling,” Obi had once said.
