Army’s raid on Lagos thugs good for the election, Nigerians react

The raid by the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army on Lagos motor parks and garages, the hideout of thugs, has triggered excitement, with many Nigerians saying it will create a level playing ground in the next election.

Recall that the military launched an operation code named ‘still water’ where no fewer than 116 suspects were arrested in Oshodi, Ojota, Ikorodu among other areas of Lagos State.

The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Major A.K. Bello, had said, “There is this exercise ‘Still Water’ that we are conducting now. The exercise is to curb criminalities in Lagos State. In this operation, we decided to go to the Oshodi area and we arrested 116 persons. We took them to our barracks where we did more investigation.

“Those that we caught with hard drugs and weapons, we handed them over to the police. We released close to 80 persons after we checked and found out that they were innocent, but we caught some in the act of taking Indian hemp, and some others with weapons.”

@JBABZ8 said: “Even during endsars I’m not sure there was an operation. The fact that the operation started suddenly without warning is enough reason to know that if the military wants to work, they will work. Kudos to them. Let this exercise continue till March ending.”
