Senegal beat World Cup hosts, Qatar 3-1 in the third Group A game played at the Al Thumama Stadium on Friday afternoon to earn their first 3 points of the tournament.
The loss puts Qatar on the verge of a group-stage exit after suffering a second successive defeat despite battling valiantly in the second game.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Boulaye Dia reacted first to a loose ball in the box and scored after Boualem Khoukhi’s poor clearance.

Famara Diedhiou then doubled Senegal’s advantage at the start of the second half when he headed home Ismail Jakobs’s corner kick.
Qatar pulled one back in the 78th minute when Mohammed Muntari
scored after an assist from Ismael Mohammad.
The Teranga Lions restored their two-goal cushion after Iliman Ndiaye provided an assist for Bamba Dieng who found the net with the right foot to end the game 3-1.
With the loss, the Middle East team will be out with a game to spare if the Netherlands avoid defeat against Ecuador in the fourth group game later today.
