“We want to stop hunger in Nigeria. We want to stop the stealing of public funds. They [opponents] want to bribe you so that they can continue to oppress you.

Peter Obi has promised to hit the ground running, with a blueprint already in place to lift Nigeriana from its quagmire, if elected President, to change the narrative of dullocracy by lootocrats who have wasted the country since independence in 1960.

Among plans in the brain box of the blueprint, he said, are strategies to end power blackouts, hunger, and treasury looting (and relooting) by public officials, and to revamp education and other public infrastructure.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) moaned about the latest collapse of the national grid and pledged such will be history under his watch if he wins the three-horse race to the Villa in 2023.

Obi disclosed his team has a strategy to progressively scale up power generation and  liberalise transmission infrastructure for stable and adequate power supply.

“The report of yet another national grid collapse is very disturbing to me, and is a reminder of the long rescue and recovery journey ahead of us. Effective power generation, transmission and distribution remain a national security issue.

“This also places power on the front burner of campaign and policy. Painfully, this latest episode [on Wednesday] is the 7th national grid collapse in 2022,” Obi tweeted, per reporting by The PUNCH.

“As part of the Obi-Datti policy plan, we have put together a strategic plan to progressively scale up power generation, and the liberalisation of the transmission infrastructure in the country, to ensure that Nigerians enjoy adequate and stable power supply from 2023 onwards.

“Power is critical to the development and sustainability of all sectors of the national economy.

“For us, power remains a top priority. Under my watch, national grid collapse will become a matter of history and a reference point for erstwhile administrations.”

Obi pledges to end hunger, treasury looting

Obi went on the stump in Jos on Wednesday in company of his running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed and was received at Heipang Airport by a large crowd, including LP Plateau governorship candidate Patrick Dakum, per The PUNCH.

He went straight to pay homage to state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former Governor Jonah Jang.

He also visited the Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Buba, before his convoy headed to the Jos Township Stadium where various support groups were waiting to welcome him.

Obi told the crowd that, if elected, he will usher in a new Nigeria, revive education, power, and all other public infrastructure, and children will go to school without hindrance.

He pledged his administration will stop the stealing of public funds and channel the resources into social provision for all Nigerians.

“We want to stop hunger in Nigeria. We want to stop the stealing of public funds. They [opponents] want to bribe you so that they can continue to oppress you,” Obi said.

“When they come, ask them where they got the money they are sharing. It is your money and we want to stop it and use the resources to make Nigerians happy.”
