Wike, who has been rocking the PDP presidential boat since he lost the party’s presidential primaries, has divided the party into two camps.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, vowed that he will use his proposed media chat on Friday to expose those he called vile characters in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are masquerading as national leaders.
He said after the chat, it would be left for Nigerians to decide if such people were still worthy of the adulation that is heaped on them.
Wike wondered how PDP chieftains, who could not unite the party are promising to unify Nigeria.
The Governor spoke on Thursday during a meeting with stakeholders of the party across the 319 wards of the state at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The meeting is the first in the state since the party’s presidential primary and the crisis that followed its outcome.
Wike, who has been rocking the PDP presidential boat since he lost the party’s presidential primaries, has divided the party into two camps.
Attempts by the opposition party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to pacify him and those in his camp have proved abortive.
As a sign of goodwill, Atiku had appointed Wike and others into his presidential campaign council.
But the group met in Wike’s country home on Wednesday to reject their inclusion until the party’s national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, quits office.

Ayu has insisted that he was not going to be stampeded out of office, a position which Atiku supports but Wike is unrelenting.
There is apprehension in the party that Friday’s press conference and what Wike decides to say may be the final straw that will break the camel’s back.
This is coming ahead of a press conference scheduled for Friday morning, September 23, 2022, to be addressed by Governor Wike in the Government House, Port Harcourt.
It is believed that the governor will speak more on the feud between him and Atiku Abubakar, especially against the latter’s comment on Wednesday.
Atiku had in a response to the Port Harcourt resolution by Wike’s team said nobody can force Ayu to resign his position.
But Wike, who felt betrayed following the outcome of the presidential primary and Atiku’s pronouncement while picking his vice presidential running mate had vowed to open up on some issues leading to the crisis.
Coming only five days to the flag-off of the presidential campaigns on September 28, there is an uneasy calm in the opposition party.
