Lawyer to comedian, Cute Abiola, says he has been released from naval custody and reunited with his family

Skit comedian and naval personnel, Abdulgafar Ahmad, better known as Cute Abiola, has been released from the custody of the Nigerian Navy
The 25-year-old comedian was arrested at his duty post on November 14 upon resumption from his annual leave for violating the Armed Forces Social Media service code.
According to Premium Times, Cute Abiola’s lawyer, Fatai Adebanjo, broke the news of his release on Monday evening, adding that he has reunited with his family.
”Cute Abiola has been released, he has been given his keys to his cars and finally allowed to join his family,” he said.

The lawyer further explained that despite being given a conditional release on December 3, he was not allowed to go home with his family.
He said: “We got there, me, his wife, his mother, and a friend. When we got there we were given access to Cute Abiola, but to my greatest surprise, they ( Nigeria Navy) did not allow him to go home with us.”
He went on to state that on their last visit, however, the Navy authority finally released him to go with them.
Meanwhile, the Naval spokesperson, Suleman Dahun, has also confirmed the development in a telephone interview.
Dahun said Cute Abiola will face a “one-month extra duty” punishment, after facing trial, he also said the comedian will be in charge of cleaning, supervising painting, electricians, carpentry, cutting of grasses, and others. He will be supervising civilians.
