Nigerian Navy says Cute Abiola is with them, not missing

Nigerian Navy debunks Mr Macaroni’s allegation that Nigerian comedian, Cute Abiola is missing, says he is being held for breach of service code

The Nigerian Navy has reacted to the allegation that the whereabouts of Abdulgafar Ahmed Oluwatoyin, popularly known as Cute Abiola are unknown, saying he is not missing but in their custody.

The Navy personnel, who doubles as a comedian, was declared missing by his fellow comedian, Mr Macaroni, who shared the news on his official Twitter account and attached a screenshot of the WhatsApp message he received.

He also stated in the social media post that he disappeared shortly after speaking with his wife and some colleagues from work two days ago.

Reacting to the allegation, the Nigerian Navy shared a press release stating that the comedian is being held by his Naval unit and not missing.

It also said the 25-year-old comedian is currently under investigation for breaching the Armed Forces social media rule policy in the use of social media platforms.

The statement which was captioned, ‘Cute Abiola is not missing-navy’ and signed by Commodore, Suleman Dahun read:

“The attention of the Nigerian Navy has been drawn to an online news story which claims that a naval personnel, OSCOMP Abdulgafar AA, who incidentally is a popular comedian known as Cute Abiola, has gone missing.

 “The Nigerian Navy wishes to categorically debunk this false news report currently trending online.

“OSCOMP Abdulgafar is currently under custody in his unit for breaching the Armed Forces Social Media Policy and refusal to obey particular orders. The Nigerian Navy wishes to avail itself of this incident to remind its personnel to comply with the provisions of the Armed Forces Social Media Policy in their usage of social media platforms.

“The Policy, amongst others, is emplaced to protect their safety and security as well as the information integrity of the activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
