The family of Nigeria’s late movie diva, Rachel Oniga, said on Saturday that their daughter died from a heart-related ailment and not complications from COVID-19.
The movie queen died on Saturday in a Lagos hospital at the age of 64.
On Saturday, news filtered out that she may have died from the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.
But on Saturday, the family debunked the rumour.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased sister, Toyin Odusote, took to her social media handle to announce that she has been battling an undisclosed heart ailment in recent times, which finally claimed her life on Friday at about 10 pm.
While appreciating friends, fans and well-wishers for the numerous calls and messages of condolence, she pleaded that the family be obliged the privilege of mourning their dead in privacy.
She said the funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
