Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode on Sunday May 30, 2021 remembered Mr Bruce Mayrock who set himself ablaze in protest against the killing of innocent Biafrans by the Nigerian army during the 1967 to 2970 civil war. Flustered at the magnitude of genocide visited on Biafra by the federal troops and the Nigerian government, Mayrock a medical student, in protest, doused himself with flammable liquid and set himself ablaze on the lawn, outside the United Nations building, New York, on May 29, 1969.

“Bruce Mayrock became part of Nigerian history when he died 52 years ago (30 May 1969)so that some of us may live! He burnt himself alive outside the U.N. in New York in protest against the slaughter of Biafrans by the Nigerian Army during the civil war. We remember him today!?? .
Replying to@realFFK, Ernest Duru@Emego7 twitted,
“Why would he kill himself to make a point? I don’t get it. What kind of foolish protest is that? I want somebody to make this rational to me please.

“He should be immortalised somewhere in the Southeast. A statue of him in Imo would have made sense than the statue of an ex-president in an Africa country facing embezzlement charge.

“A hidden history in deed!
But that is not the way of #Christ therefore we should not emulate him or praise him. #Suicide is evil! #Prayer is the key!
Let us learn from #JesusChrist the only person ever lived on earth and worth learning from”.
