Anti-graft war: APC blasts Ekweremadu, decries PDP’s attacks

-

The All Progress Congress (APC) has decried the incessant disapproval of President Muhammadu Buhari’s war against corruption by key, vocal and loud members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

On the contrary, the party urged all the anti-corruption agencies not to be distracted by the opposition party’s syndicated and coordinated attacks but rather continue to employ all legal and legitimate avenues to bring to book all the treasury looters.

The ruling party, in a statement on Saturday by its Assisant Director of Publicity Edegbe Odemwingie  in response to an earlier attack on the anti-graft efforts by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, regretted that while majority of Nigerians are all-plaudits for the APC on the war against corruption, loud elements in the opposition party are against it.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) is aware of the intensified orchestrated attacks by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its agents on the hugely successful war against corruption being waged by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration,” Odemwingie said.

According to APC National Secretary Mai Mala Buni, “The party is also aware of the plot by PDP and its agents to stampede and blackmail anti-corruption agencies over ongoing corruption cases being investigated.

“In three orchestrated statements on Friday, the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and Ekiti state Governor Ayodele Fayose, among others, alleged plans by APC and President Buhari’s administration to silence the opposition through a selective anti-corruption fight. Also, the acting National Chairman of PDP Uche Secondus on Friday accused APC of attempting to turn the country into a one party state.

“The APC urges anti-corruption agencies not to be distracted by these syndicated and coordinated attacks and continue to employ all legal and legitimate avenues to bring to book all looters of our common wealth”, the statement reads.
