The first civilian governor of old Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, is dead.
A foremost Nigerian politician and freedom crusader/fighter died early today (Wednesday) at the age of 84 after a brief illness.
A former chairman of defunct Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the second republic, Balarabe Musa was the first civilian governor to be impeached by Kaduna State House of Assembly in June 1981.
After his impeachment, Musa had said that he was impeached because he planned to have the state open small and medium-sized industries, and this would deny the NPN members the opportunity of establishing their own enterprises.
Confirming his death in a statement via social media, former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, wrote:
“Alhaji Balarabe Musa has died. May Allah forgive his soul and grant him Aljanna firdausi. Amin.”
Musa was born on August 21, 1936 in Kaduna.
He studied at Zaria Middle School and at the Institute of Administration, Zaria. He was a popular accounts clerk and a school teacher.
He was survived by a wife and children.
