Chukwuneke Agbarakwe: Creative identity sculptor

-

His name bears a fathomless philosophy of Ndigbo. It translates to ‘God creates all beings and all things humans needs’. But man, having been created, has an inalienable right to choose what he or she wants. Most people create phantoms for dread or ease without restriction. When one aligns with what is right and proper, one experiences positive values. When, on the other hand, one aligns with what is evil, it develops phantoms of dread which returns to haunt man. There is no error in the intricate meshwork of Creation.

Chukwuneke’s creative genius is seen through his presentation of programmes. He starts every morning with Igbo philosophy of nemesis. He deifies morning as the spirit of every day worth celebrating as a visitor. He thereafter promulgates an eternal law drawing from the Ten Commandments. Let not the bounty of the dutiful make you sad, and do not let the suffering of people make you happy. In short, love your neighbour as yourself.

He picks up commonplace contemporary issues at random and treats them clinically to perfection in drawing up daily lessons. His examples sell the message adequately. He sometimes approaches the portals of hyperbole to drive home his main theme. He is full of examples for every theme. His marketing skills are stupendous. He could sell a rotten corpse as gold with appropriate words. He speaks flawless Igbo of near Mbaise people. He draws copiously from witticisms of ancient Igboland with praiseworthy ease, and does not fail to correct derailing interviewees with Igbo equivalent of diluted pretenders to English Language with appropriate Igbo equivalents to leave his presented unsullied.

I find him guilty, though, of making light matter of his carefully contrived emotional statements with inappropriate giggles that take the wind completely out of the balloon he hoists into the clouds like dreadful sword of Damocles upon guilty listeners to his lampoons of vile-dom. He should sustain the seriousness of each issue with the solemnity it deserves. He should smile when there is humour, not after a weighty statement of cause and effect anchored firmly in eternal laws.

He prepares his presentation and presents an outline for each day which he rattles off with ease. I believe he spends ample time connecting his words with appropriate music pieces that drive home his point, and they are multiple each day in evidence of painstaking desire to come through to his audience.

What is efficiency? It is the end of well directed energy to achieve an objective. I do not know of any day I have listened to him without drawing draughts of contentment about him and his goal clearly set out during his introduction to his programme. He sells businesses with uncanny aplomb without being too obtrusive to people’s preferences. He could be superlative in his persuasion, but he is never hurtful. He studies the product and garnishes its presentation with his own intellectual endowment. I believe he has created unusual custom for many a business that have won his support for his early morning gig, ‘Ututu Tara Oji’.

He must be remembered for his research into Igbo root culture. He shows evidence of sound first-hand knowledge of the ways of his people as well as whys and wherefores of strange conduct assailing our current evolutionary quagmire. And he is quick to put holes in false pretences attending our upcoming generation of sharers of our common heritage polluted in its advance to social resurgence and relevance.

I am hopeful that his trajectory will be remembered by the high and mighty in Radio Nigeria Heartland FM for the value he has created for the station. His patrons find him useful and he reciprocates with token gifts to his listeners from time to time. At least, free charge numbers are read out for people with sharp fingers to key in and earn credit to their cell phones when sponsors come calling.

I like this man and make no pretences about it. I am entitled to this.
