Tragedy struck in Tudun Matawalle area of Katsina metropolis as four children were reportedly killed by an inferno, with their mother also sustaining serious burns.
The mother, along with two others both of whom reportedly sustained varied degrees of burn, is currently undergoing treatment at Katsina General Hospital.
It was gathered that the children, all children of one Yakuba Tangaza, died following fire outbreak from a generating set.
A source said the fire erupted when Tangaza attempted to start his generator.
An elder brother of Tangaza, Malam Haruna, who spoke to our correspondent, narrated how the incidence occurred.
“It was while he attempted to start the generator after putting fuel that the fire erupted. Part of the house went up in flames and the children were trapped in the fire”
Sobbing intermittently himself, Haruna stated that the children’s father is devastated by the incident.
“We have been trying all we can to console their father who is in a state of serious trauma,” he said.
Neighbours said the fire may have been caused by adulterated fuel.
At the time of filing this report, scores of sympathisers were still trooping into the residence of Tangaza to console him.
