The All Progressives Congress (APC) enjoins Christians and all Nigerians to imbibe the many positive lessons of the birth of Jesus Christ by rededicating themselves for the greatness of Nigeria.

The APC spoke as former deputy president of the senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has canvassed peace and love during the season.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu

“The special day is as momentous as it is significant. While we celebrate with our family and loved ones, all Nigerians must fully appreciate the need to redouble our efforts in the quest to ensure the peace, progress, stability and economic prosperity of our great country.”

In a statement signed by Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC national spokesman, the party said: “Achieving these noble objectives would only be realised if exemplary virtues such as peaceful disposition, sacrifice and tolerance, which Jesus Christ’s life embodied, are practised in our day to day life.

“While the President Muhammadu Buhari APC government truly appreciates all Nigerians for their support and cooperation so far, we call for more support in order to ensure that Nigeria continues on its current trajectory of sustainable economic growth, development and prosperity.

“We assure all Nigerians that the Federal Government would not shirk in its onerous duty to keep all Nigerians safe this Christmas and beyond.

Meanwhile, Ekwremadu has called on Nigerians to pursue peace and show love in order to move the nation forward.

Ekweremadu made the call in his goodwill message to the Christian faithful at Christmas.

The lawmaker, who spoke at the annual Christmas outreach to widows by his wife, Dr. Nwanneka Ekweremadu, called for the revival of the values of love and unity in order to move the nation forward.

“The core message of Christmas is love as demonstrated by God, who gave His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to be born as man for our salvation.

“This season is therefore a call to show unconditional love, for we cannot claim to love God if we do not show love to our fellow men created in the image and likeness of God.

“As Africans, we must endeavor to sustain our social security system and the culture of being our brother’s keeper to ensure that nobody is left behind.

“We must pursue love, unity, peace, justice, forgiveness, and goodwill to all in order to move our nation forward”, he said.

He wished the Christian faithful and the nation a merry Christmas, according to a statement by Uche Anichukwu, his media aide.
