The Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG ) and Niger Delta Peace Advocacy (NDPAG) have joined other progressives voices to warn the Federal Government against the “sponsored” campaigns for the confirmation of the appointment of the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Prof Nelson Brambaifa.
The groups also advised the government to jettison such campaigns, arguing that the next chairman is expected to be produced by Delta State which already has a similar agency, DESOPADEC, which would collaborate in infrastructure development of the areas.
Rising from an enlarge meeting penultimate in Yenagoa, the youth groups through leaders of IMG, Birinemighan Dennis, and Bekesuo Adigo of NDPAG, frowned at the rising plethora of campaigns on the streets of Yenagoa by the acting boss, which are aimed at hood wicking the federal government into confirming him against the act establishing the commission. While alleging that the commission under the watch of Brambabaifa has not added value to the lives of Niger Deltans, they further warned against such protests, stressing that none of the abandoned NDDC projects in Bayelsa State had been attended to since he assumed office, listing Akenfa Bridge, Okukutu water tank project and Students Hostel at Niger Delta University as few of such mega projects.
