A medical doctor, Alade Oyedepo, has given expertise testimony in the ongoing trial of Damilare Balogun for allegedly raping 25 years old Grace Endyo.
At the Special Offenses Court of the Ikeja Judicial Division, the witness, a medical doctor with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), told the presiding judge, Justice S. O Solebo that the medical examination of Edyo did not reveal any forceful intrusion.
He however explained that it could be as a result of her age.
“When she was referred, having taken further consent from the client, I took further brief history of what has happened to her. She was found to be calm, well oriented in time, place and in person. That means that she was physically stable.”
His further examination revealed: “There was no vocal anatomical derangement on the client’s vaginal. The anus was found to be normal.”
He however said by not finding any areas of injuries on the clients genital does not disqualify her claim of what happened.
“The client was matured and was in good state of health with rich blood supply. And more especially, the vaginal carnal had good elasticity to withstand any stress or forceful insult as compared to the younger age group less than 18 years whose virginal carnal surface had less elasticity and less blood supply and are liable to easy bruising or injury that will be obvious and can persist for longer period,” he said.
The case was adjourned to June 28, 2018 for more cross examination.
