Fidelity Bank Plc management has raised the alarm over what it described as spurious allegations against the outfit and its officials, making the rounds online and on social media.

The bank’s Divisional Head, Brand and Communications, Charles Aigbe, stated in Lagos on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, that the unsubstantiated claims and accusations on the social media were designed to mislead the banking and general public.

While describing the allegations as false, treacherous and libelous, the bank’s imagemaker, said the plot to bring the image of the bank to disrepute was the result of a failed blackmail and extortionist attempt, which had been reported to the authorities.

He however appealed to the public to disregard the falsehood.

His words: “As a full-fledged commercial bank, operating in Nigeria, we are a responsible corporate citizen and our operations are guided by the laws of the land as well as local and international banking standards.

“At Fidelity Bank, we remain committed to providing excellent banking services to all and will not be distracted by the antics of these detractors.”
