The Senator representing Yobe North Senatorial District, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, to construct 12 new Mosques across Yobe North Senatorial District.
The measure, he said, was to ensure unity and controlled preaching among the people from the six local government areas of his senatorial district.
The Senator’s aid, Habu M. Kaku, disclosed this in Damaturu.
“These projects are designed and targeted at providing not only praying centres but also community centres where religious education and other social activities can be hosted. Also wedding ceremonies and other things will be held in the centres,” he said.
He further explained that under the arrangements, two Mosques would be built in selected villages in each of the six local government areas in the senatorial district.
“Currently, the contractors have mobilized to sites, and are expected to commence site identification, to enable them commence the construction in earnest. The identification of locations will be done by the beneficiary communities”.
According to the senator’s aide, Habu M. Kaku, “survey work is currently ongoing at various locations across the senatorial district which include: six locations in Adavi Local Government Ares, three in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, and two other areas to be announced later.
