Yobe State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Wakil Kaku, has decried the encroachment of the grazing route by residents in some local government areas of the state. He also advocated for the establishment of cattle ranch as a solution to the herdsmen /farmers clashes. Besides, he cautioned the Fulani herdsmen against allowing their livestock to destroy farm produce.
Kaku spoke at a one-day workshop, Community Peace Volunteers Town Hall dialogue for herdsmen and farmers in Yobe State by Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) in collaboration with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Participants were drawn from herdsmen, farmers, civil society organizations, traditional rulers, security operatives and the media.
Gabriel Idoko of the UNHCR in his address expressed gratitude to all the stakeholders for their interest in attending the meeting.
One of the resource persons, Dr. Mohammed Machina, presented an overview of Community Reconciliation and Post Conflict peace building in Yobe State.
