Oye Chukwujekwu,

Asaba.

The Delta State former Governor, Chief James Ibori, has stated that the youths in the state played pivotal roles to his emergence as governor , just as he emphasized that the roles of the youths can never be over emphasized in nation building.

Ibori disclosed this at the weekend when Oghara Youths Association (OYA) led by Favour Ededey paid him a visit in his Oghara residence. The ex-governor stressed that while he was away, he was told of the roles played by the youths, occasioned by their desire and love for him during his years of incarceration.

He revealed that youths stood by him, when some politicians at the national level wanted him dead, eulogizing their steadfastness while he was away, promising to give speedy consideration to all their plights.

Earlier, the President of OYA, Comr. Favour Ededey told Chief Ibori that they were in his residence to officially welcome him back home, emphasizing that they regard him as their national leader.

Ededey informed Chief Ibori that the youths played various roles during his challenging times, lamenting how some politicians he (Ibori) empowered used and dumped them with mirage of promises, stressing that Chief Ibori should focus on empowering the youths, as they have been long abandoned in the community.

The youths also informed the former Governor that the elders were not prepared to cede power to the younger ones, appealing to him to wade into the situation in order for them not to resort to forceful seizure of political power from the elders, promising that the youths would follow him in whatever political decision he made.

In a related development, Chief James Ibori has played host to a group under the aegis of Urhobo Democratic Assembly, UDA who paid him a solidarity visit.

While receiving the group, Chief Ibori said that he remained the same as when he was the State governor, promising to be a father to all and assured them of all inclusiveness in whatever opportunity that came his way.

He lauded the caliber of persons in the group, noting that he believed in equity and justice, just as he assured them of his open doors policy, warning them to shun divisive agenda.

The group led by Chief Bar. Arthur Akpowowo pledged their total support to him, advising him to be focus to recover all he had lost during his years of incarceration.
