Senate confirms two judges for Supreme Court

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Ejembi Eko and Justice Amina Augie, as justices of the nation’s highest court.

Justice Eko is said to hail from Benue State, while Justice Augie is from Kebbi State.

President Muhammadu Buhari had written to the Senate seeking the confirmation of the two justices for the Supreme Court.

The president is vested with the powers to appoint Supreme Court judges on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Justices Eko and Augie were interviewed by the NJC to replace Justices John Fabiyi, and Muhammad Muntaka-Coomasie, following their retirement.
