18th Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship: Delta, Lagos advance to semifinal

Yejide Grammar School, Ibadan, Oyo State picked their semifinal ticket in the girls category at the ongoing 18th Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship, at the sports hall of the Asaba Stadium, Delta State.

The hardworking Ibadan side defeated Harmony Secondary School, Lokoja, Kogi State 24-13 points to grab the semifinals ticket with a very bold stance.

Yejide girls coach, Yemi Abiodun, praised the girls for their resilience and what he described as job welldone.

He said, “I asked my players to take it easy and play their normal game without underrating their opponents.”

Also, Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue State also breezed into the semifinal, by beating Government Secondary School, Numan, Adamawa State By 48-10 points.

The one sided encounter saw the Coach Andoa Zakaay tutored Benue Girls to dominate the all the four quarters 7-3, 21-3, 41-5 and 48-10 points.

In the boys cadre, Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja, Kogi State handed out a 33-26 points defeat to Government Secondary School, Barracks, Cross River State, while Henson Demonstration School, Benin City, Edo State defeated General Muritala Muhammad College, Adamawa by 39-34 points in a tension soaked encounter.

The semifinal pairings, in Girls category, St. Jude Girls Secondary School, Amarata, Bayelsa State will confront Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue State, while Wesley Senior Girls Secondary School, Lagos will slug it out against Yejide Girls Grammar School, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In Boys semifinal pairings, Osadenis Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Delta State will confront Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja, Kogi State and Government Secondary School, Karu FCT will take on Henson Demonstration School Benin, Edo State, at Indoor Sport Hall of Asaba Stadium, Delta state.
