Coronation of Eze-elect, Prof Mark Odu

Ezeship Selection Committee of Amohuru Autonomous Community has announced coronation ceremonies of Eze-Elect, Professor Mark Anamelechi Chukwunwike Odu, the only eze-elect of Amohuru Autonomous Community, elected by common will of the people since August 24, 2013.

 

The chain of events commenced with cleansing of the Aladimma Amohuru by elders, and planting of regeneration palm trees at Aladimma premises by the youth, on Orie Ukwu day, Tuesday November 4, 2014. Communal trust and confidence in one another was renewed with oath taking at the event.

Decoration of Aladimma was completed.

 

Eze-elect formally led elders on a symbolic visit to his maternal relations to formally announce commencement of ceremonies immediately after. There are two parties to every fruitful relationship.

 

It is the duty of the Eze Selection Committee to inform all parties in the life of Prof. M.A.C. Odu throughout the world about the event through the print and electronic media of the impending event and solicit their support to the event.

The grand finale takes place on December 12, 2014 at Community Primary School Field Amohuru from 10am to 5pm with capping of members of traditional council and conferment of titles to deserving sons and daughters of Mbaise Cluster of Clans and other Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora found worthy of honour.

 

The following represent bodies that should be formally notified by the committee of the event:

 

St. Finbarr’s College Old Boys’ Association (SFCOBA) where Odu was national president for two terms and was honoured with Distinguished Conqueror’s Title. He was a member of Board of Governors of St. Finbarr’s College for eight years and surveyed the premises for posterity with own resources.

 

Products of University of Nigeria Department of Estate Management Worldwide who benefited from Pre-graduation Lectures of Prof. Odu from 1975-1978.

 

The Vice Chancellor and Council of University of Lagos, Akoka, where Odu served as Senior Lecturer and Acting Head of Department to anchor Estate Management discipline from 1983-1985.

 

University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) where he served two terms (1989 to 1993) and was honoured with A Lion of High Achievement (ALOHA) and became Chairman of Conference of Alumni Association of Nigerian Universities (CAANU) with that pedestal.

 

All members of Council of Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) where he served as National Publicity Secretary and Chairman, 10th Anniversary Celebrations (1979 to 1980) and Third National Secretary (1980 to 1982).

 

Members of defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) from 1978 to 1983, which party he anchored in Imo State and served as member of Think Tank for President Shagari’s Cabinet, developing Education and Housing Policies for Government.

 

All surviving members of Commission on Review of Higher Education in Nigeria (CORHEN) also known as Longe Commission) from 1990 to 1991.

 

Members of Alliance for Democracy (AD) from 1998 to 2002, during which Prof. Odu was elected the party’s governorship candidate in Imo.

 

Products of Department of Estate Management, Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri 1999-2001.
