Uniport students protest, seek Buhari’s resignation

-

Students of the University of Port Harcourt on Monday, April 11, 2016, protested the incessant travels of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Some of the placards they carried read: “President must resign to give way for credible leadership,” and “Buhari, stay at home and fulfil your promise.”

One of the protesters, who did not disclose his name, said, “The president must resign if he cannot solve the problems of Nigeria and chose to run away every week to diverse countries across the globe.”

Another student, simply called Ifeanyi, who was chanting anti-government slogan along with his colleagues, said that the president was insensitive to the woes of Nigerians, who were faced with lingering fuel crises, power outages, and an alarming rise in the cost of commodities.

At the moment, East/West Road in Port Harcourt is totally blocked, and motorists traveling via that route are advised to look for alternative routes. Recall that last week, University of Lagos was shut down following students protest against the Federal Government.
