Nasarawa: Bloodbath averted after 150 Fulani cows’re poisoned dead

-

Another crisis was averted in Nasarawa State with predictable violent clash between farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Toto Local Government area following the poisoning of forage and water sources which led to the death of over 150 cattle.

An emergency security meeting which averted what would have been another round of predictable communal bloodbath was convened by the Council Chairman Mohammed Musa, after a security report that the Fulani herdsmen were mobilising their kinsmen to avenge the killing of their livestock.

Simultaneously, Musa maintained that farmers also accused the herdsmen of deliberately destroying their farm produce and he appealed to both sides to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance.

He warned that government would not spare any individual or group which takes the law into their hands, noting that two committees have been constituted comprising farmers, herdsmen, traditional and religious leaders with a view to sensitising their subjects on the need to give peace a chance.

Other grievances that topped the discussions included rape and armed robbery blamed on Fulani youths.
