The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Dambatta has unveiled an eight-point agenda, assuring enhanced commitment towards consumer empowerment and sustainable service delivery.

According to him, NCC’s new vision, which rests on availability of service, accessibility of service and affordability of service, is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Change Agenda of social benefits and inclusiveness of national development.

“The policy goals of NCC recognized the immense socio-economic importance of ICT to national development and therefore seeks to ensure that infrastructure necessary to provide ubiquitous broadband service is available and accessible to citizens at affordable rates,” Dambatta said.

He explained that the strategic Vision 2015 to 2020 on broadband demands is to provide sustainable foundations for inclusive future growth, competitiveness and meet the nation’s principal societal challenges.

The 8-point agenda includes facilitation of national broadband penetration, improved quality of telecommunication service, optimal use and maximization of the benefits of spectrum, promotion of ICT innovation and investment opportunities.

Others are facilitation of strategic partnership with relevant ICT stakeholders, protection and empowerment of consumers, promotion of fair and inclusive growth through ICT services and ensuring regulatory excellence and operational efficiency.
