The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially released its schedule for the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants and primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially released its schedule for the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants and primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the NDC said the sale of Expression of Interest forms will run from Wednesday 13 May to Monday 18 May 2026.
Aspirants for various offices will be screened and interviewed from Tuesday 19 May to Thursday 21 May to determine their eligibility to purchase nomination forms. Contenders are advised to attend with the relevant credentials and supporting documents.

Nomination forms will go on sale immediately after the screening, from Thursday 21 May to Saturday 23 May, with completed forms due by Monday 25 May.
Appeals arising from the screening process will be heard on 25 and 26 May, while primary elections for most offices are scheduled for 27 and 28 May. The presidential primary is set for 29 May in Abuja.
Screening for State House of Assembly aspirants will be conducted in their respective states, while candidates for the National Assembly and the presidency will be screened at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. Governorship primaries will take place at local government level.
All aspirants will be required to sign undertaking in line with the party’s guidelines and code of conduct. The NDC said it would adopt an “open secret ballot” system for its primaries to guarantee credibility, fairness and internal democracy.
The party also disclosed its approved nomination fees, which it said remain among the lowest compared with other major political parties.
The fees are as follows:
*State House of Assembly: Expression of Interest – N1 million; Nomination – N1.5 million
*House of Representatives: Expression of Interest – N2 million; Nomination – N4 million
*Senate: Expression of Interest – N3 million; Nomination – N5 million
*Governorship: Expression of Interest – N10 million; Nomination – N20 million
*Presidency: Expression of Interest – N20 million; Nomination – N40 million
Female aspirants will pay 50 per cent of the applicable fees, while persons living with disability will pay 25 per cent across all categories.
The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, inclusive and democratic process that would produce competent candidates for the 2027 elections.
