Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is meeting with tech entrepreneurs in Lagos, Nigeria’s own Silicon Valley.

Atiku, in the company of his campaign team, is hoping to draw support from the tech ecosystem and connecting with techies across all reach.

“The next president should be the president that understand the opportunities the Tech Industry offers.”

“I am lifted by the strength of your passion, the clarity of your intent and the courage in your willingness to set forth into the uncharted waters of innovation in the rapidly evolving and tumultuous world of technology,” Atiku said in a meeting with techies and tech experts.

Atiku said that on February 16, history of Nigeria and Nigerians would be rewritten as they troop out to vote a president that is not just tech savvy but understands the challenges in the sector and has promised to partner with them for good.

His meeting with technologists has been hailed as a very bold and courageous move as most candidates have paid scant attention to the ecosystem in the past.

Atiku’s Campaign Director and Senate President, Bukola Saraki, said Nigerian youths should elect a president who understands technology and is ready to partner with them.

“Let’s bring in a President that will partner with you,” Saraki said at the Digital Summit.

Tech enthusiasts at the event said meeting Atiku means that there is someone who truly cares about developing the technology industry in Nigeria.
