A new report by NPD, an arm of Connected Intelligence says that Smartphone users are not keen to upgrade to 5G.
The analyst firm conducted a survey of about 3,650 smartphone users this year and found out that a quarter of those surveyed still held on to their previous devices for three years. That number represents 18 percent increase from two years before.
NPD says two out of three consumers are aware of the technology and around one-third are interested in purchasing a new device.
Few companies have started making 5G enabled devices. Samsung, LG, and Motorola are leading the pack after the U.S. government clamped down on Chinese tech giants, Huawei who pioneered the technology.
Nigerian smartphones users are currently battling an infrastructure challenge in upgrading their devices to 4G.
