But it emerged the actor who is better known for his acting career, is actually a DJ and has been so since he was 17,

According to reports, Idris DJ career preceded his acting.

Hollywoodlife said his first gig as a DJ was at a relative’s wedding where he filled in when the regular DJ did not show up.

“In fact, his DJ experience dates all the way back to 1986 when he helped out with his uncle’s wedding DJ business. And the rest was history! He created his own company with some friends that very same year and went on to work nightclubs under the name “Big Driis” when he was only nineteen. This was before Idris even began auditioning for acting roles, which he didn’t start doing until his early twenties. You know what that means! Music is his first love. Knowing that, it’s crazy exciting to know the father of two will be hitting the stage at a huge festival like Coachella,” Hollywoodlife wrote.

Coachella has seen a lot of hypes especially as one of African acts, Burna Boy, billed to perform at the event protested to the organisers that his name is too small on the lineup.

Burna Boy referred to himself as African giant.

“@coachella I really appreciate you. But I don’t appreciate the way my name is written so small in your bill. I am an AFRICAN GIANT and will not be reduced to whatever that tiny writing means. Fix tings please,” he said in an Istagram post.

He was slammed by many who said he does not merit the term he ascribed to himself.

He, however, clarified his statement and said nothing he said has come from a place of pride.

“I represent a whole Generation of SOLID AFRICAN creative going Global. Not the soft, Low self-esteem Africans with the slave mentality.

“Nothing I say comes from any place of ‘pride’ or any sense of ‘entitlement’, it comes from my Vision of the future of AFRICA not just AFRICAN Music,” he concluded.
