Arsenal left back, Oleksandr Zinchenko, has given his manager, Mikel Arteta a big boost ahead of their trip to Crystal Palace on Monday, after he was passed fit for the encounter.

The Ukrainian international has been struggling with a calf injury since the end of last season and was not able to feature in the Gunners’ pre-season games.

Zinchenko went on the club’s tour of the United States despite his injury and admitted it was difficult watching from the sidelines, although he doesn’t regret the time away with his teammates.

“Well, it’s always tough when you can’t play,” he told the Arsenal website.

But according to the UK Mirror, the 26-year-old defender could be in line to start for the North London club at Selhurst Park.

This would represent a major boost for Arsenal after losing new signing, Jurrien Timber to a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Zinchenko could start as an inverted left-back which is where he excelled last term.

Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 in their first fixture of the season at the Emirates Stadium

Goals from Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka ensured that the Gunners picked up the maximum points in the game.
