Nees also stated that all the teams that qualified for AFCON are there to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition.

Zimbabwe coach, Michael Nees, has named Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Egypt’s Pharaohs as the best attacking teams in Africa.
He made this known recently while reflecting on the strength of the opposition Zimbabwe would face at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Nees, whose country couldn’t make it to the 2026 World Cup, has now turned his attention to the upcoming AFCON tournament in Morocco.
The Warriors will play Egypt, South Africa, and Angola in the group stage, having endured a challenging 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Zimbabwe was in Group C alongside Nigeria, South Africa, Benin Republic, Lesotho, and Rwanda.
They finished bottom of the group after recording five draws. South Africa picked up the automatic ticket, while Nigeria secured the playoff spot.

Despite boasting one of the most talented attacking units on the continent, Nigeria managed only 15 goals across the qualifiers, with Victor Osimhen contributing six of those.
Their tally was outscored by fifteen nations, including Egypt, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Gambia, Kenya, Algeria, Tunisia, Ghana, Madagascar, and Mali.
Speaking on the attacking prowess of African teams, Nees listed Egypt and Nigeria as the two most potent attacking sides.
He also stated that all the teams that qualified for AFCON are there with the aim of reaching the knockout stage of the competition.
“We are in a very difficult group. We have South Africa, very strong, we saw last Friday. We managed to hold them.
“Egypt with Nigeria the best attacking team in Africa, Angola a very dangerous team.
“Every team that plays at the Afcon wants to go to the second round. I don’t think there’s any team that goes there to play three games and go home,” the German said.
