The rally by agitators for Yoruba Nation in Lagos, turned rowdy on Saturday, when the Police fired teargas canisters at the Ojota venue of the exercise.
The Police also sprayed water cannon on the protesters and fired shot in the air to disperse protesters and forestall the breakdown of order. Some protesters were also arrested and kept in the waiting Black Maria by the venue of the rally.
Earlier in the day, the Police, Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had mobilised and deployed their men at strategic places close to the venue of the protest. Calm has however, gradually returned to the area.
