Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi says he has fled Nigeria after surviving by a wisker an assassination attempt on his life for daring to fight for justice for Mohbad, the Afrobeats musician who died in September 2023.

Fabiyi disclosed his ordeal online after his absence at Mohbad’s coroner enquiry and after he (Fabiyi) failed to lead a planned protest to the Lagos State House of Assembly on 30 September 2024.

He had scheduled a protest two days ago to coincide with the resumption of the coroner investigation of Mohbad’s death, but later disclosed that his life is under threat, having just escaped and an assassination attempt.

“I escaped assassination two days ago and they still planned to kill me tonight. If they had succeeded, I would have been buried tomorrow,” Fabiyi claimed in a video clip on his Instagram page

“They will now waste me all because I’m fighting for Justice. I didn’t collect money from anybody. I am just doing my own for God. I have to run for my life. I just left Nigeria unplanned and as it is now I don’t even know my destination.”
