Yobe State government has approved the procurement of 1,590 metric tonnes (31,800 bags -trucks) of NPK fertilizer for the 2017 cropping season at the cost of N199,220,000.00.
The state Commissioner, Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Mala Musty, disclosed this in Damaturu after the State Executive Council meeting.
He stated, “The Council also approved the redesign and review of four (4) irrigation scheme at Mugura, Boloram, Nguru Lake and Jumbam at the total cost of N777,079,774.69.”
Other things approved at the meeting, according to him, include awards of contracts for rehabilitation of schools, roads and drainage construction; the construction of 300m road and 1.510m concrete drainage (2/2) and 600m block drain at Lawanti Ward, Damaturu at a total cost of N132,402, 942.00, renovation of Government Girl’s Secondary School, Nguru at the cost of N405,901,216.84 and the renovation of Government Secondary School, Nangere at N300,777,989.10, respectively.
The Council also ratified the payment of outstanding 21,109 domestic students scholarship allowances for Yobe indigenes studying in tertiary institutions in Damaturu, Potiskum, Gombe, Bauchi, Jos, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, Jigawa, Sokoto, Katsina and Adamawa zones amounting to N417,014,410.00.
