Works, two other Rivers commissioners join ex-AG, Adangor, resign from Fubara’s cabinet

Adangor left his position, saying his decision was “based purely on personal reasons”

Three more Rivers State commissioners have joined the former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor after sending their resignation letters to the governor as the crisis rocking the state deepens. 

TheNiche had earlier reported that Adangor resigned from his position in the state executive council via a letter addressed to the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

In the letter, the state’s former law officer stated that his resignation was “based purely on personal reasons”.

Following his footsteps on Thursday, the Commissioner for Works, George-Kelly Alabo, the Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, and their Finance counterpart, Isaac Kamalu. also tendered their resignation letters.

The letters, dated December 14, were addressed to the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, through the Secretary to the State Government.

Alabo, a staunch loyalist of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stated that he resigned based on the dictates of his conscience.

His letter, titled ‘Resignation as Honourable Commissioner for Works, Rivers State,’ reads: “My decision to resign is anchored on my conscience, personal philosophy, and professional ethics. This decision was taken after deep introspection.”

On her part, the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation cited “personal” reasons for her resignation from the cabinet and wished the current administration well.

The Finance Commissioner, however, did not state why he pulled out of the cabinet.

“I hereby inform you of my immediate resignation as Commissioner of Finance, Rivers State with effect from the date stated above,” he said in his letter. “I thank you for the opportunity granted me to serve our dear State under your administration.”

Alabo Chinwenwo-Aguma and Kamalu resignations came after several Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislators loyal to Wike decamped to the All Progressives Party (APC).
