An Ethiopian woman has claimed that an Orthodox Tewahedo Church pressurised the management of Sheraton Hotel in the nation’s capital, Addis Ababa to cancel the concert of Nigerian Afrobeats star, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema.

The woman made this known during an interview with Nigerian media personality, Daddy Freeze, where she further alleged leaders of the “powerful” church ensured the concert billed for Sunday, September 9, was cancelled after noticing what the “Calm Down” crooner was wearing.

According to her, they accused the singer of being a “devil worshipper” because he donned a customised necklace that has a burning church and inverted crosses in the artwork of his concert poster.

Speaking during the chat, the woman said, “They made a statement, like a press release in Ethiopia about Rema. Yes, you can imagine, it’s a very big deal.

“They’re basically saying he is worshipping the devil because of what he has on his neck. And to be honest, I never thought of it myself. And there’s more to it; to be honest.”

Meanwhile, the lady was later seen defacing Rema’s Addis Ababa concert poster in a video making the rounds on social media.
