Wizkid wishes for better 2024, says 2023 showed him ‘shege’

Wizkid lost his mother in August 2023, during a tour for his album, ‘More Love Less Ego’ in Europe.

Ace Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has recounted the year that just ended.  

Taking to his Instagram story on Sunday evening, the Grammy Awards winner revealed how tough the year 2023 was for him.

He went on to state that he is looking forward to a better 2024 in the now viral-post.

After the post made the rounds on social media, his fans and other netizens suggested the post by the ” Love My Baby” crooner may not be unconnected to his mother’s death.

TheNiche reported that Wizkid lost his mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun in August 2023, during a tour of his album, ‘More Love Less Ego’ in Europe.

Addressing the loss in October 2023 during his mum’s wake-keep ceremony,
the singer described the incident as his deepest pain in life.

He said: “The pain is profound. It hurts deeply. The deepest pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m lost but I pray God will comfort everyone of us,”

However, speaking via his social media page in his new year message, Wizkid wrote: “23 show me shege! 24 be good to me!.”
