Ace Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has revealed why he seldom discusses politics or speaks about politicians while singing or granting interviews.
The Grammy award-winner made the disclosure during a recent interview with Evening Standard UK, where he also described women as “God on earth.”
According to the ‘Essence’ crooner, the Nigerian masses are more interested in how to make money and make ends meet than politics.
Speaking during the chat, Wizkid said: “I don’t like to speak about politicians in Nigeria. People in the streets care about themselves and what they are going to eat. They don’t give a f*ck about nothing else.”
The 30-year-old went on to say as a leader of the new generation in Nigeria, he is more interested in steering artistes “forward” than judging the “previous generations”.
He also said he wants to ensure that the new crop of Afrobeat singers are united and can make impact globally.

Wizkid, while speaking about women during the interview, also asserted that “God is definitely a woman.”
He further said his music is to celebrate women from all cultures, stressing that he was raised around “strong women.”
“To me, women are God on earth. God is definitely a woman, for sure. What’s more powerful than creating a life? My music is here to make women feel good from all cultures. It celebrates them. They’re valued.
“I was raised around strong women, so it means I cater more for women with my sound, you know? Being raised by women made me understand their full range of emotions. It is a beautiful thing.” Wizkid said.
