Dele Ogun, the brother of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has alleged that his sister only resigned as cabinet minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government because she was told verbally by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that her certificate was found to be forged.

Ogun, also a lawyer to Adeosun, said his sister, after resigning as minister and returned to UK, was shocked to discover that no documentary proof existed to show that the allegation was investigated.

He said she became aware of this fact after the Institute of Chartered Accountant of England and Wales, which she is a member of, became interested in the case.

According to Ogun, the Instituted sought to know if the allegation against her was true by requesting for the written report of the investigation which ‘indicted her. They found that it didn’t exist, that she only resigned on the strength of the verbal communication between her and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that her certificate was forged.

Ogun said only Premium Times accused her of forgery. He said NYSC, at the time of the controversy, confirmed that she indeed applied for exemption certificate. That the government of Ogun State that procured the certificate, also insisted that due process was followed in obtaining the certificate. He also said relevant security checks were done before she became a commissioner of Finance in Ogun State and Finance Minister at the federal level.

He accused Premium Times of doing a hatchet job and promised that the online newspaper would soon be dragged to court for libel.
