Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) has held a speed mentoring session to equip the Nigerian Under 19 female team, the Junior Yellow Greens, participating in the competition, to improve their leadership capacity and foster a winning spirit ahead of the 2025 International Cricket Council (ICC) U-19 Women’s World Cup Africa Division One Qualifiers.
The mentoring session which is under the WIMBIZ Big Sister’s Program is designed to equip the girls with life skills and knowledge that will boost their confidence and leadership capacity.
The ladies were taught and mentored on Visioning, Building your personal brand, Money Management, Mental & Sexual Health by accomplished female professionals across various sectors.
The president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Uyi Akpata, commended WIMBIZ for the mentoring session, noting that it was a good initiative giving the girls access to such information at a very early stage as it will prepare them for the future.
Akpata also pledged to continue partnering with WIMBIZ to mentor more young girls in sport.
Also speaking, the team’s coach, Steve Tikolo while appreciating WIMBIZ for the Big Sister’s Initiative said he wished he and his colleagues had been given access to the information given to the girls earlier in their careers, stating that many former professional athletes won’t have been lost and would not have challenges with managing their finance.
