The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government, affirming he doesn’t regret supporting him in 2023.
He made this known recently, while speaking at a thanksgiving service organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
TheNiche in 2023 reported that Wike who was the governor of Rivers State on the platform of the PDP, backed President Tinubu, the then APC candidate instead of his party’s flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.
His effort was subsequently rewarded with the position of FCT Minister by the president.
Addressing supporters and attendees of the thanksgiving event, Wike thanked President Tinubu for believing in him.
He went on to say he was threatened before the 2023 elections for supporting the incumbent president, adding that he would do the same thing if another opportunity comes.
“I have no regrets, I have no apologies. If the opportunity comes I will do the same thing,” he said.
The ex-governor also debunked allegations of land grabbing levelled against him by some residents of FCT, Abuja.
According to him, the right things must be done, stressing that those in possession of government land must do the right thing or risk having their plots of land revoked.
He described as laughable the allegation of land grabbing levelled against him.
“I am in charge of lands in Abuja, how will I go and grab what I am in charge of.
“We must thank Mr President, if he did not give us this opportunity, we wouldn’t have known. Here in Rivers State, we thought it was difficult.
“When you go to the capital, you know you are dealing with the entire Nigerians.
“I can assure you, no matter the cry you cry, no matter the propaganda you carry, if you like give me any name you want to give me, the right thing must be done,” he added.
