Wike fights back, calls Atiku serial election loser in riposte to being described self-serving godfather

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, calling him a serial election loser.
Wike was reacting to an earlier comment by Atiku that Rivers’ people have rejected the machination of self-serving godfather during the state’s local government election.
He said: “As prophesied, it has now been revealed that the citizens of Rivers are astute and resolute, unwavering in their rejection of any form of political oppression, harassment, or the machinations of self-serving godfathers.”
Even though Atiku did not mention Wike by name, the FCT minister spared no punches, calling Atiku out over the indirect jibe.
He said this during an event attended by his supporters, including Martins Amawhule and members of the factionalized Rivers State House of Assembly.
Wike said: “I hear Atiku Abubakar say they have rejected me in Rivers State. Assuming without conceding, he has lost so many times, hence, Nigerians have also rejected him.
“For the election we did not contest. For the election we did not participate, you say Nigerians have rejected us. It’s okay. You (Atiku) that contested and failed woefully, Nigerians have rejected you. Therefore, pack and go home.”
