Why Yousef remains in Big Brother house despite all odds

One of the housemates of Big Brother Nigeria Season 6 “Shine Ya Eye” edition, Yousef, has proven most pundits and fans of the TV reality show wrong.

The fans want housemates who create controversies. Yousef has not, and has survived evictions so far. In fact, he is strongly contesting for the N90 million grand prize despite not given a chance to come this far.

A large section of the fans of the show want him out and his criticism at the comments section clearly shows that they think he is not entertaining and does not possess the personality that can generate controversies to sustain the kind of drama that keeps most of them glued to their TV sets.

Despite that the 26-year-old Jos born housemates has openly confessed to Big Brother that he came to the house to find love, made attempts to get close to the ladies and won a lot of tasks with some of the members of his group, he is still regarded as not entertaining. Not even his resent erotic dance with Angel at the Friday night Jacuzzi party changed public opinion in his favour.

Curiously, he has remained in the game and has been solid so far. The times he has been up for eviction, he was never at risk of leaving and even his fellow housemates seem to forget about him. Most times, his name rarely comes up when they are nominating one another for possible eviction.

Some of the fans have alluded his strength to the fact that he came from the northern part of the country, but he is not the only candidate from the north in this season, and certainly not the first candidate to represent the region in the reality show.  So, what then can be the reason for his good showing so far?

Some have equally argued that he doesn’t come up for nomination often because most of the housemates do not consider him a threat. While this is debatable, it is clear that the two times he came up for possible eviction, he excelled in flying colors.

The only possible explanation which is yet to be debunked, is that a lot of fans who are of the Muslim faith, especially in the north, might have seen him as their representative, being the first man to openly identify with the faith in the show. And that since the north is mostly populated by Muslims, he might have bloc vote from the axis

One will never know what is truly making Yousef thick despite the opinion that he is not as entertaining as the others nor controversial, but one thing is certain, he has shown so far that he is not a push over and has a formidable fan base to take him to the last five.
