The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Ayuba Wabba, has asserted before the Senate House Committee on Aviation that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) would find it difficult to call off its ongoing industrial strike which has lingered for eight months without any end in sight.
Wabba made the assertion before the committee while presenting the position of the Union on the six bills being considered by panel to transform its agencies in the sector.
NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, in a his submission said;
The Academic Staff Union of Universities could not call off strike when the issue under consideration still lingered. “
When asked if NLC would advise ASUU to resume while negotiation continues, Ayuba Wabba said, “That is no how negotiation is done. If before the action commences, we are able to reach a negotiation, then we would have resolved the issues. “
“We are already on action before those issues arose. I don’t think that is the best way to go. Government should show enough commitment to resolve the issue once and for all”.
