When you talk of effective leadership, you talk of Peter Obi, says Adeleke

Obi, who promised effective leadership if elected, decried the pervasive culture of consumption in the country and pledged to replace it with a mindset of productivity.

For Nigeria to get out of its current economic crisis, there is an urgent need to cut the cost of governance and provide effective leadership to the people.

These were the recommendations of former Anambra state governor and leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, in Osogbo, Osun state yesterday.

Obi made the comments in course of his consultation process to stakeholders of the party on the need for them to elect an acceptable candidate in the May national convention.

He observed that it is the consumption orientation that is responsible for the stagnation in the country.

Obi kicked against mismanagement of state resources, stressing that public money is for the public good.

He blamed the leadership for neglecting the youths and vowed to harness them for national development if elected.

He recommended investment in agriculture and technology as a starting point for repositioning the country.

Speaking at the occasion, the senatorial candidate for Osun East, attested to Obi’s culture of transparency which manifested in Obi days as Governor of Anambra State.

In his comments, former national secretary of the party, Wale Oladipo, lauded Obi’s humility, simplicity and service to humanity.

The chairman of the PDP caretaker committee, Dr Adekunle Akindele, said Nigeria is going through a rough curve and needed a leader with the right attitude to rescue it. He urged the state delegates to reflect on the pedigree of the former Governor.

The state governorship candidate, Sen Ademola Adeleke, commended Obi for putting fear of God in his activities. In his words, “When you talk about effective, compassionate and dedicated leadership, you talk about Peter Obi.”
