What Tinubu’s GAC want from Bode George

By Ishaya Ibrahim

With a legitimacy crisis trailing the emergence of President-Elect Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election, members of the powerful Governance Advisory Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have taken steps to mitigate the problem.

They visited a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George.

The GAC delegation to Bode George’s Ikoyi residence included its leader, Tunji Olusi, a former deputy governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, a retired Justice, Ishola Olorunnnibe, and others.

It was gathered that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, was supposed to be in the delegation but later called to be excused because of another  crucial engagement.

The GAC delegation first held a closed door meeting with Chief Bode George which spanned several hours before addressing journalists.

TheNiche gathered that the deliberation centered on two issues. First, that he should congratulate the newly elected president ahead of the inauguration on May 29. Second, that the congratulatory message should be publicized in newspapers.

Olusi, while addressing journalists, said the meeting was productive and that they agreed on a number of issues.

Bode George, however, said he is a member of the PDP and that his party is in court challenging the election.

He said after the court case, he could consider the demand of the GAC.
