President Muhammadu Buhari has said in Abuja that his administration is fully committed to closing all the loopholes in the revenue generating agencies, increasing their efficiency in trade facilitation and ensuring transparency in all government businesses so as to attract more foreign direct investments into the country.
Mallam Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant, Media, said in a statement that the Buhari administration would soon introduce more policies to further ease the process of doing business in Nigeria.
Speaking after a presentation at the Presidential Villa on enhancing Nigeria’s trade and economic competitiveness, the President said that the new policies would be focused on increasing efficiency and transparency in government operations, and blocking leakages from revenue generating agencies.
The President added that Nigerian Customs Service, Ministry of Trade Industry and Investments, Ministry of Finance and other relevant agencies would be encouraged to adopt some of the positive ideas in the presentation for implementation next year.
A representative of the company that made the presentation, Mr Lim Chee Boon, told Buhari that virtually all the countries that implemented its solutions have successfully reduced corruption in their import and export processes.
He did not specify the percentage of reduction in corruption with its solutions.
