Playing for Barcelona is a rare privilege, says Aubameyang

The one-sided encounter, saw January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang score a brace in his first derby, netting the first goal in the 29th minute.

Ronald Araujo doubled Barcelonas’ advantage in the 38th minute after   Ousmane Dembele provided his second assist of the night, which he converted.

Ferran Torres made it three in the 47th minute of the second half before Aubameyang capped it with another goal in the 57th minute to end the game 4-0.

Real Madrid despite the defeat are still 12 points off the Catalans in the Liga standings, but the performance is an attestation to how far they have come under their new gaffer and club legend Xavi.

Victory means Barca stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games and leapfrogged Atletico Madrid into the third position in the table while reducing the gap between them and Real Madrid to 12 points with a game in hand.

They have also reached the semi-final stage of the Europa League and are therefore in contention for a trophy this season despite their poor start.
